  • Recreation Program Manager

    Summary of Role


    The Program Manager will work under the supervision of the Recreation Program Director on a multi-person team to provide administration and oversight of the Recreation Program at MSI. The Program Manager will own a group of grade levels for which they will manage and support player registration, team building and staffing and ensure smooth operation of the Recreation Program.


    Primary Job Responsibilities

    • Ensure the successful registration of players for assigned grade level(s).
    • Build teams of players for assigned grade level(s).
    • Make sure each team has a coach for the season.
    • Support volunteer coaches in preparing for the season and carrying out coaching duties in-season.
    • Support all aspects of in-season operation e.g. game reschedules, ensuring MSI gameday policies and procedures are followed, addressing any game-day infractions/incidences.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Take on a major administrative function of the Recreation Program such as coordinating our financial aid program or taking lead on parent communication.
    • Facilitate meetings among volunteer coaches.
    • Work with the director to review league policies and procedures to assess areas for improvement.
    • Create, analyze and use surveys to understand and increase the community’s satisfaction with the program.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Possess good decision-making skills and solid judgement

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree
    • At least 4-5 years of post-college experience working to administer programs or significant projects
    • Some experience with youth sports team(s), preferably soccer
    • Availability to work some evenings and/or weekends especially in-season
    • Experience using spreadsheets and other database programs
    • Experience with leading a group of people and/or indirect supervision
    • Ability to speak Spanish or other language is a plus

     

    MSI offers generous vacation benefits including a week at 4 of July and Thanksgiving as well as two weeks at the end of December. We also offer a 401K plan after 1 year of service.
